No Eagles 2013 preseason games on national TV this season.

A 4-12 season does not lend a team to nationwide interest.  As such, NO Eagles preseason games will be televised nationally this season.  We’ll just have to wait till the 2013 season-opener on Monday night September 9th at Washington to get together to see the Birds fly to the Super Bowl…..in New York!!

Who is Nick Foles???

Well the talk around the town is 6 foot 6 QB from Arizona…and he has made a statement in my book and in Andy Reid’s. I’ve seen him twice live going up against my Oklahoma State Cowboys and the thing I noticed was he gets the ball off quick and makes short precise throws. He fits the mold of a typical west coast but it’s to the point where the Eagles play a very different west coast offense with it’s long ball game. Drafted out of the 3rd round, no one really had any high expectations for him including me. Yes he has the size, but as far as his necessity to the team right now made him not so appealing. Going into training camp, he was looked on as a solid 3rd string with chance for improvement. As I said he has the size, but he had footwork issues which costs him a higher pick. Now he does have an arm as the video below will prove. After watching him in 2 preseason games, this kid can play. Now I’m not saying lock him up for the future and buy your Foles jerseys while they are cheap, but at the same time it’s nice to see what the future might bring. He has shown poise among his years with the ability to sit comfortably in the pocket and hit his receivers with precision. There is a reason he hasn’t been sacked yet as he has a quick release and his timing is beautiful. His timing really showed during the Pats game as he hit Jackson in the red zone with a pass that only he could get and hit Harbor for a touchdown with a defender draped around him. He has shown he can hit the comeback routes to the outside receivers which in my opinion is one of the hardest throws to make since the defender is crashing down looking for the lazy throw and making a pick. He has excellent field vision with his ability to keep his eyes down the field even under pressure. He showed this off with his endzone corner throw to Harbor as he was rushed out of the pocket but still found his receiver at the last second. Other QB’s would of thrown it away and use another down. A thing I like about him is he can take a hit and get right back up. During the 3rd quarter of the Pats game, he took a shot after releasing the ball. Next play he sat comfortably in the pocket and hit his man for a completion. Andy Reid even noticed that one. He has the ability to throw it deep as he hit Johnson during the Steelers while on the run and hit Jackson for a big gain during the Pats. Hopefully we don’t have to see him this season but wouldn’t mind seeing him in the future.

New blog spot

Hi I’m Mason Dougherty and I’m a freshmen at Oklahoma State. I just got the opportunity by EaglesNestDallas to put my blogs on the website. My thanks go out to the creators and people that run this awesome group that represent Philly sports from the Dallas area. A little about me is I’m a die hard Philly fan. I’m actually from Dallas but my Dad is from Levittown. I grew up as a fan of Philadelphia and thats what most of my blogs are going to be about. I plan on going into broadcasting at Oklahoma State so this is a great start. Once again a huge thanks to EaglesNestDallas and my blogs will be coming out soon. You can check out my former blogs at thechoochexpress.blogspot.com. thank you

Austin Avenue is no more…

It comes with great sadness that I bring news that Austin Avenue Bar & Grille, where EaglesNestDallas was founded, has burned down last night. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bryan, Natalie and the rest of the staff there.

We still have our Lewisville location for the END and until a new location is procured, we hope you will all join us there. That is, if and when there is a football season.

Eagles Meet-up Page

The Eagles have started a meet-up page in order to collect all the meet-ups around the country in one place.  That way it is easier for people around the country to find a local Eagles group.  I have added this weekend’s game to their site (Fox and Hound Lewisville) and would ask everyone to go there, join their page and if you’re coming to this week’s game, RSVP there.  Please be sure you also RSVP on our page too.  Nothing has changed about our group’s page and it is still the place for all of the information about our group.  I just want to get everything on the main Eagles page as well, so that people who don’t know our group exists have an easier time finding it.  Here’s a link.
